Finding My Fit: A Culture of Family, Service, and Community

michelle formica-frizzi Jun 04, 2025

Culture — a powerful blend of family, service, and community — is at the heart of The PMO Squad. It’s rooted in values that resonate with me.

Joining The PMO Squad feels a lot like being drafted to the right team. You can have all the talent in the world, but to truly thrive, you need to be surrounded by people who share your values, support your growth, and play with heart. While I was initially drawn to The PMO Squad because of my deep appreciation for project management and a desire to make a real impact, it was the culture that truly moved me.

Family

The PMO Squad feels like more than just a team. It feels like a family grounded in a people-first approach that shapes how we work and support one another, both professionally and personally. As someone who values family and close-knit relationships, this immediately felt like home.

Service

As an Army brat, I was raised with a deep respect for service, purpose, and integrity. That’s why I was especially drawn to The PMO Squad’s commitment to supporting veterans through their affiliated non-profit, the Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance (VPMMA). Being part of an organization that actively gives back to those who’ve served our country is both meaningful and inspiring to me.

Community

The PMO Squad is actively engaged in the project management community through a global platform called The PMO Leader, where professionals from around the world share ideas, learn from one another, and elevate the profession together — supporting the global industry through research, volunteering, presenting, and leadership at events and conferences. I’m excited to contribute to that mission and help deepen our impact.

What I Bring to the Table

Throughout my career, I’ve worked across a variety of industries including non-profit, real estate, science, and healthcare — all of which relied on project management to drive efficiency and streamline processes. I bring a unique blend of passion, expertise, and versatility to my new role at The PMO Squad.

Most recently, I served at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where I led strategic marketing initiatives in a complex, mission-driven environment. My experience helps shape how I craft messaging, build brand awareness, and drive engagement across diverse audiences.

I truly believe in the value of project management and the difference it can make in how organizations achieve their goals. I’m honored to be part of a team that’s making a real impact, and to help tell that story in a way that inspires and connects with our community. A team where family, service, and community aren't just values - they're how we show up every day. And a team that leads with heart, serves with purpose, and builds community in everything we do. Here's to the journey ahead - together.

What’s Ahead

In my new role as Marketing Director, I’ll be focused on amplifying The PMO Squad’s mission through thoughtful storytelling, strategic campaigns, and meaningful connections. My goal is to showcase the incredible work our team is doing and the impact we’re making for clients, veterans, and the broader project management community. You can expect to see more from us on what it means to “deliver better,” real stories from the field, and fresh insights from the Squad. I’m excited to help bring these stories to life and highlight the people, passion, and purpose behind everything we do.

I’ll be attending the PMI Global Summit 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona on November 12-15 — if you’re there, I’d love to connect!

Stay tuned — we’re just getting started.
